April in Raja Ampat: shoulder season calm with quieter reefs
Quick answer
Is April a good time for a yacht charter in Raja Ampat?
April is a very good month for a Raja Ampat yacht charter. Conditions are still mostly calm as the monsoon shifts, the water is warm and marine life is excellent, with fewer boats than in the peak months. The weather becomes slightly less predictable towards the end of the month, and many larger yachts start relocating to Komodo.

FAQ
Raja Ampat in April: your questions
Is April still a good time for Raja Ampat?
Yes. April is the last part of the recommended season, which runs from October to April. Seas are usually calm, the water is warm and the reefs are quieter than in January and February. Conditions become a little less predictable later in the month, so early to mid April is the safer choice.
Are larger yachts still in Raja Ampat in April?
Some are, but many begin moving back to Komodo for the dry season there, which starts around April. Availability of the largest yachts therefore drops through the month. If a specific yacht matters to you, ask about its relocation date before you fix your plans.
Can you combine Raja Ampat and Komodo in April?
Yes, as two separate charters. April is a natural month to do both because the seasons change hands: a Raja Ampat charter from Sorong, then a Komodo charter from Labuan Bajo. We do not sail between the two regions; flights connect Sorong to Labuan Bajo via Makassar or Bali.
