How we chose the best Komodo yachts
Every yacht on this list is listed for Komodo charters in our fleet data, which currently covers 49 yachts sailing the park from Labuan Bajo. We ranked them on hard numbers only: length, number of cabins, guest capacity, build year and the published price per night for the whole yacht. We did not use marketing claims, and we did not add amenities we cannot confirm for every yacht.
The aim is a balanced shortlist: one yacht that suits most groups, a few that win a specific brief such as couples, large groups or newest build, and two honest value picks for travellers who care most about cost.
Celestia comes out as best overall because it combines a recent build year, a cabin for every pair and a price in the middle of the upper tier, rather than winning on any single number. Yachts that win one criterion outright, such as the longest or the cheapest, carry their own label below so you can pick the trade you prefer.
- Region: the yacht must list Komodo as a cruising region.
- Space: length and cabin count relative to the number of guests.
- Age: build year, since newer yachts usually have more modern interiors.
- Price: the published price per night and the price per guest per night when the yacht is full.
What to compare before you book
Start with your real headcount, then compare cabins rather than the maximum guest number. A yacht that sleeps 14 in 7 cabins, like Celestia, gives every couple or pair their own cabin. Layouts with many more guests than cabins work for friends who are happy to share but feel tight for families or couples.
Next, look at length per guest. Lamima at 65.2 m carries 14 guests, while Raffles at 33 m carries the same number, so the deck and lounge space each person gets is very different, and so is the price.
Finally, decide on nights. For Komodo we recommend 3 nights as a minimum, 5 nights as the sweet spot, and 7 nights if you want to add Sumbawa or Moyo. Komodo is best from April to November, with peak demand from May to October.
If you are deciding between two yachts, compare them at your real headcount. Kayra and Sanya both suit small groups, but Kayra adds a third and fourth cabin for 8 guests, while Sanya keeps the layout to 2 cabins for a more private feel. At the top end, Otium and Lamima are both for groups of 12 to 14, and the choice comes down to whether you value the newest build or the most length.

Side by side: our Komodo shortlist
Per guest prices assume the yacht is booked to its maximum capacity. With fewer guests the per person cost rises, because you always charter the whole yacht.
Booking tips: secure peak dates from May to October well ahead, since the most requested yachts fill first. Budget roughly US$50 to 120 per guest in park fees for a 3 to 4 night charter, more for divers, and plan a crew tip of about 10% of the charter fee. Payment usually works as 50% to confirm and 50% 60 days before departure, with final terms in a written charter agreement. Flights from Bali to Labuan Bajo take about 1h15.
