How we chose the best yachts for large groups

Every yacht here sleeps at least 14 guests, so a group of 12 or more fits with room to spare. We ranked them on guest capacity, number of cabins, length, build year and price per guest per night when full, which is the fairest way to compare yachts of different sizes.

Large groups usually split costs, so per guest pricing matters. A bigger yacht can work out cheaper per person than a smaller one, as long as you fill it.

Sanctuary takes best overall because it combines an 18 guest capacity with a 2023 build year and a price of about US$833 per guest per night when full. Aqua Blu is the only choice for groups above 19, while Velocean and Mutiara Laut give lower per guest prices for groups of 15 to 18.

What large groups should compare

Check cabins as well as capacity. Velocean has 10 cabins for 18 guests and Kailana Premier 10 cabins for 19, while Raffles fits 14 guests in 6 cabins, so some guests share in threes or use flexible berths. For a group of couples, cabin count decides the shortlist.

Check the region. Dancing Wind sleeps 16 but is listed for Raja Ampat, Alor, Wakatobi and the Spice Islands, not Komodo, and Raffles is listed for Komodo only. The other yachts here list both Komodo and Raja Ampat, but each charter stays in one region.

Large groups also mean more decisions to coordinate. Agree early on how many cabins you need, who shares with whom, and whether anyone will dive, since diving is charged on top of the charter fee. Then compare the per guest figures in the table below at your real headcount, not the maximum.

Large group yacht prices compared

Prices are for the whole yacht per night, including crew, meals and fuel for the standard route. Park fees, diving, alcohol and gratuity are extra and usually charged per guest, so they grow with group size.

Booking tips for large groups

Lock your headcount early. Per guest prices only hold when the yacht is full, and large yachts are limited, so the best options book first in Komodo peak season from May to October and Raja Ampat season from October to April.

Budget the per guest extras: Komodo park fees of roughly US$50 to 120 per guest for a 3 to 4 night charter, or the Raja Ampat entry permit of about US$120 per guest. Payment usually works as 50% to confirm and 50% 60 days before the charter, and a crew tip of about 10% of the charter fee is usual.

Name one person as the group contact so the crew and our team have a single point for menus, timings and transfers. Collect deposits from the group before you confirm, since the first 50% is due at booking.
